MS2 Pinnacle (Real-time)
THE INNOVATIVE REAL TIME EDITION OF MS2 IS NOW AVAILABLE.
Project Hawk has now been added to the MS2 product range. In addition to the Express, Professional and Premier levels, there is now an additional level - MS2 Pinnacle Edition. Building on the features available in the lower levels of MS2, Pinnacle Edition provides real-time analysis of data coming from a wide variety of sources.
Currently MS2 can be connected to OSI Soft's PI and Wonderware's Active Factory data historians. MS2 can also be connected directly to control systems such as Emerson's Delta V and ABB's System 800xA. This provides the added benefit of being able to write quality values and diagnostic messages directly back to the operator display. The operator then has an indication of what the problem is even when no single variable is in alarm!!
CAN MS2 PINNACLE CONNECT TO MY DATA?
As mentioned above, MS2 is already connecting to a range of control systems and historians. If you are using one of the above data sources, then a short period of configuration time by us is all that is needed to get you online and analysing your data in real-time. What if i use a different data source? MS2 fully supports the OPC Foundation Data Access (OPC-DA) standards for connecting to control systems. This allows us to interface to virtually any system our clients may require. In addition to this we can also build interfaces to connect to SQL server front ends, XML data sources and OLEDB/ODBC databases. We can also use proprietary vendor specific API's and SDK's to build a customised interface.
Further interfaces are due be to developed to meet the requirements of our users. Since MS2 is highly modular , it's flexibility enables new interfaces to be easily added. If you can get data out of your control system, then we can create an interface and connect MS2 Pinnacle to it!
HOW WILL I BENEFIT FROM HAVING MS2 PINNACLE?
The Pinnacle Edition of MS2 will give advance warning to the operators when the process is not operating under 'normal' conditions. A standard model of nominal conditions can be created within the MS2 system. Once this model has been created, MS2 will then store the correlations and relationships between all of the process variables when the process is operating under normal conditions.
The model can be be any period of high product quality, high yield, low scrap or low impurity etc. Each new sample is then projected on to the model by MS2. The PCA (Principal Component Analysis) algorithm then displays each of the multivariate values on a score plot. As soon as a sample is plotted outside the confidence bounds, the multivariate alarm is triggered. This indicates something is wrong and the user can drill down to find the reasons why the process is operating in an abnormal way.
EXPERT SYSTEM - INSTANT OPERATOR ADVICE
MS2 Pinnacle Edition includes an expert system built on top of it. When a process problem has been detected by MS2, the user will use the MS2 toolkit to find the cause of the problem. This problem can then be stored in the fault list of the expert system. Along with the fault, the user can store operator advisory text in the expert system database.
Once a fault is in the expert system, MS2 will automatically recognise all future occurences of it. Since it has occured before, MS2 will know what needs to be done to fix the problem and will display text on screen as instructions to the operator. If the control system supports it (such as ABB's System 800xA) then this text can be written directly back to the operators screen on his workstation.
